ParticipantWeeell some are heavy, is it the same if I send them by dropbox?

KeymasterYes, @grace-galdamez, please submit any photo submissions to the dropbox link! Posting them here is great, but optional, whereas the dropbox link is the required place to submit your photos.

KeymasterAt the HEAV Convention last weekend, I ran into the graduation keynote speaker Paul Hastings who is the host & producer for Compelled Podcast (https://compelledpodcast.com/). As I was telling him about the Shoot to Serve assignments, I came here to the forum to show him the photos you were taking for the current assignment. It was so neat that your photo submissions related to what his ministry was about! Who knows, we might be shooting for him in the future. 🙂

ParticipantBecause I was shooting indoors with my low-quality camera, I had to have a high ISO.
I tried zooming in when I looked over her shoulder so that I could achieve right proportions. In the last webinar, Miss Bennett suggested I zoom in for these kinds of pictures. Did I zoom in an enough? Or is there anything else I could try so that the head/hair doesn’t appear too large?-Ruthann

ParticipantHere are a few of my photos I took of one of my younger brothers and my sister. They really enjoyed listening to the adventure while I snapped photos. However, I was really having trouble with my camera focusing on foreground objects while blurring the background. (I tried shooting on several different settings) Any suggestions as to how to correct this are welcome. (I have a Nikon 5600)

KeymasterYAY!! LOVE seeing these submissions coming in! You go, guys! It was exciting to hear from CrossCurrent that they’re interested in choosing additional winners by the end of the assignment, based on seeing the photos you’re all submitting. Any additional winners that they choose (besides the weekly winners and the grand prize winner) will receive 1 book credit/photo. So keep up the good work!
That being said, let’s all give a round of applause to Weekly Winner #2…. @musicgal! CrossCurrent said that they appreciated the soft lighting and the focus on the audiobook in this photo.
Congratulations, Allison!

Yes. To my eye at least, these proportions look great, Ruthann! They have a realistic feeling to them. Good job!

Great question, Joanna! Adjusting your aperture will largely affect the amount of blur in your photo. The lessons, “On Depth of Field” from the Foundations Course, and “How to Create Beautiful Background Blur” from the Explore series, would be good lessons to review on the topic. Let us know if that helps or if you have more questions about that!

ParticipantThankyou Ms. Bennett. I read the lesson “On Depth of Field” and it really helped to clarify. Hopefully I can use this to increase the quality of my photos and be more pleased with their outcome.
