FEATURED: Storm Clouds Breaking

Am I right in guessing that not too many storms have rolled through in the past couple weeks? 🙂 We have 5 more days before the deadline. An incredible thunderstorm passed through last night . . . hopefully more will be coming through before the weekend!

Hello Mr. James!
This is a great assignment to photograph, and I love how many ways there are to shoot it! I pulled several of these pictures from my existing folders, but I did take a few at our lake with my favorite, all-purpose (to me 😁) lens (my 400 mm 😉)…specifically for this STSA. I only submitted two of those since I already had prettier photos, and I didn’t send in my favorite shot from the group since it looked more scientific than scenic! (I wish that my 400 shots had turned out a little l prettier and a little less “cool-looking”.😕) My camera was also Not liking the brightness, and therefore it had trouble focusing! It wasn’t a good idea to point a telephoto lens towards the sun without an ND filter anyway, so I don’t blame the poor little camera sensor!😐🙃 I’m glad there was no sensor damage!!😵‍💫😬😬
I’ve sent some photos from our lake, one of Curahee Mountain, and most of the pictures are from Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline (my favorites 😄).
Thank you for doing the assignments; they are so fun to shoot. Our family is looking forward to the webinar!!

I didn’t remember to get a storm cloud picture until it was almost two late. Soon after, dark rain clouds completely blocked the sun.
We might have a storm tonight or tomorrow. We’ll see.

These are the photos I took for this assignment. I took both of these pictures in our backyard in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we didn’t have many epic storm clouds, but I hope these will work for this Shoot to serve Assignment🙂.

Here are my pictures for this assignment. It didn’t line up for me that the sun was peaking out of the clouds when I was available to take pictures this month, so I submitted some past pictures I’ve taken.

I found this assignment quite challenging, because we’ve had fine weather this entire month, so I didn’t have many opportunities to photograph storm clouds. I did my best to photograph the concept of breaking through, but I did have a bit of trouble with sunspots in some of my photos.

Wow folks, your pictures look incredible! I couldn’t locate previous pictures that I’ve taken, so I had to shoot what came along this month. (Sorry, the variety is slim. 😏) The first picture didn’t have a sunburst, so I put one in. (Not great, but it works… I guess.🙃)

That is so great, @parrisfamily Tabitha, your “all-purpose 400mm lens”. Love it! 😀 With a telephoto lens I can see how that would be a concern, so I’m glad nothing was damaged in the process of making your photos. 🙂 The photos over Lake Ontario are phenomenal! Very well composed.

@samuelwest your backyard photos look like they’re straight from a stock website! And your others are so colorful.

Wow, @william-fallow72gmail-com, I’m sorry the weather wasn’t cooperating for you! Where you’re from, is March usually a calm month, weather-wise? I’m glad you took the challenge head-on, though. Instead of opting out, you opted for creativity. And that’s commendable. You’re photos do fulfil the assignment!

And @parrisfamily Rebekah, you did well. My favorite is #2047. A dynamic photo that has “March” written all over it! And the unique way the sun is eminently breaking through on #2005, I think that would make a compelling b&w photograph!
