ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:
• Publisher: Ziesemer Family Publishers
• Purpose: The Ziesemers would like to create two music videos with songs from their “Oh What a Day” CD, on the theme of Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary!
• Request: The songs are “Lead Me to Calvary” and “The Cross” (a medley of “Near the Cross“, “At the Cross” & “In the Cross of Christ I Glory“). While the Ziesemers would mainly like pictures of crosses, you are welcome to photograph other various things that relate to the cross, like a crown of thorns, the empty tomb, the nails, a robe, etc. This will provide room for some nice variety in Calvary-related content.
• Special Instructions: Please avoid crosses in cemeteries, things that look like Catholic icons, items that symbolize more than just “Calvary” (like Gaelic, Irish, Celtic, Coptic, Templar crosses etc.), or particularly modern-looking crosses.
• Orientation: All photos must be horizontal.
• Photo Specs: Feel free to use any device to take the photo, but make sure it looks high quality on a computer screen and the photos are at least 4000px wide. Edit however you like. No watermarks.
• How to Submit: Members can follow the A, B, C process outlined here. (Instructions for non-members can be viewed here.) You can submit up to 10 photos.BONUS CHALLENGE! The main emphasis on this assignment is on photography. However, the Ziesemers would like to create one of the two music videos with video clips rather than photos. If you are up for an additional challenge to the photography aspect of this assignment, consider submitting video clips in addition to your photos!
Simply follow these steps:
1. Set up your camera on a tripod (or stable surface)
2. Putting your camera into its video mode, make sure that it is set to its highest quality setting (1920x1080px at minimum)
3. Compose your shot as you would for a photo
4. Using manual controls, ensure that the shot is properly exposed and focused well
5. Take a clip that is 10-30 seconds in length.
6. Submit no more than 5 video clips to this link.• Remuneration: Lenspiration members will receive $3 per chosen photo, or $5 per chosen video clip.
• Terms: By submitting your photo(s) and video(s) on this forum, you agree to the terms outlined in the STS Photo Assignment Agreement. Ziesemer Family Publishers reserves the right to use any of the photos and videos that are submitted for this assignment.
• Deadline: Midnight Saturday, November 26, 2022 (or until this topic is no longer highlighted yellow).LEARN HOW:

Perfect time of day for a silhouette shot, and it’s neat how the clouds really add to the mood.
November 22, 2022 at 8:41 pm #73472James StaddonKeymasterOn another trip to town, we stopped at the same crosses again. This time it was early in the morning! We arrived right as the sunlight began to hit them. Turns out there is a nice place to turn off close to the exit ramp, and a large area to walk around and get a clear view on the crosses. This is what I was able to get that morning in November. There’s definitely potential here for different times of day and different seasons!

I was able to find some very nice non-Catholic looking crosses there. I edited all of the photos with my new photo editor!
Here are my first two edited ones…
November 26, 2022 at 5:36 pm #73547Blessings CapturedParticipantEven though us three photographer sisters each photographed the same cross that our brother thoughtfully made for us; it’s neat to see how different perspectives, lighting, etc. make them all different.
I also included two pictures from my portfolio in which I photoshoped in the crosses.

I just realized that they are all under 4000 pixels on the long edge. 🙁
