ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:
• Publisher: Olivet Baptist Church
• Purpose: Olivet Baptist has a Bible Verse Pic ministry where they send out 7 text messages each day, encouraging their church family to pause and give praise to the Lord! This idea is based off of Psalm 119:164, “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.”
• Request: They would like to create VersePics on the theme of “The Intricacy of God’s Creation”! They would like close-up photos of nature that showcase the masterful designs all around us which we enjoy but easily overlook. They already have a VersePic Template designed, so all they need is the photos to plug into the template. Suggestions for Scripture verses that go with your photo submissions are welcome as well!
• Special Instructions: Since the text will not overlay the photo, there is no specific need for negative space in the photos. Edit photos tastefully. Do not include watermarks.
• Orientation: Horizontal is preferred
• Photo Specs: Photos should be a minimum of 1200px wide.
• How to Submit: Members can follow the A, B, C process outlined here. (Instructions for non-members can be viewed here.) You can submit up to 10 photos.
• Remuneration: Lenspiration members will receive $4 per winning photo. There will be up to 7 winners selected.
• Terms: By submitting your photo(s) on this forum, you agree to the terms outlined in the STS Photo Assignment Agreement. Olivet Baptist Church reserves the right to use any of the photos that are submitted for this assignment. The photos may additionally be used in their church e-bulletin or on their church Facebook page.
• Deadline: Midnight Saturday, May 28, 2022 (or until this topic is no longer highlighted yellow).LEARN HOW:

My name is Hannah and I just joined Lenspiration, with the main purpose of participating in the “Shoot to Serve Assignments.” I look forward to participating in this great challenge since I started as a nature photographer (currently doing candid event photography). I also started with the focus of close up photos since I got a macro lens shortly after I got my camera (almost 4 years ago). I shoot with a Canon, but have several other friends who shoot with Nikon and Sony.
I hope to be posting my photos within a week or two. I already have 3 photos that I think I will use, but want to post them in groups of 5 or all together. Wishing you all photographers success. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s photos and watching the critique.
God bless,

May 10, 2022 at 9:19 am #70445Lukas N.ParticipantNevermind, I found it.

And welcome to Lenspiration, @froglover! If you still need info on submitting photos for the photo assignments, you can follow the A,B,C submission process here.
Well, I had fun shooting some photos for this assignment, using my telephoto lens. It’s my favorite lens all-around, and especially for close-ups like this! I also chose Scripture verse suggestions for each of the attached photos:
Photo #1 – “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
Photo #2 – “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” (Psalm 37:7)
Photo #3 – “Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.” (Psalm 119:77)
Photo #4 – “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; the God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.” (2 Samuel 22:2-3)
Photo #5 – “For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.” (Isaiah 66:2)

May 16, 2022 at 6:31 pm #70485Blessings CapturedParticipantThanks, @lenspirationlydia! The flowers are batcher buttons.
Here’s one I got of a red blanket flower in water drops. I used my flash so I was able to stop down all the way. But because I was stopped down all the dirt particles inside or out of my camera/lens showed up. I’m not sure where they came from. I cleaned my sensor and lens and blew off the rear lens element. @lenspirationlydia or @jamesstaddon did you have problems with dust when you reversed your lens?
To fix it I unsharpened the background to remove the small ones then used the healing brush on the big ones. You can see the before and after in the screenshot.
-HannahMay 16, 2022 at 6:54 pm #70488Hannah F.Participant@BlessingsCaptured, what a great idea you had to use waterdrops to magnify the flowers. I believe they are Shasta Daisies and I also have those wildflowers as well.
I understand the frustration of dust particles on your camera/lens, but you did well in problem-solving it by using the healing brush. Although another solution would no doubt be helpful considering you do not want to overedit your photos. I’d recommend using a microfiber cloth, or as James Staddon recommends just using camera-lens disposable wipes.
For me, I often keep a microfiber cloth in my camera bag, and often clean my lens before and after taking photos. I have had that problem before, and often just have to choose either a day that isn’t as windy, just clean the lens carefully after every 30-60 minutes, or as you did in using a healing brush or masking filters.
I’m not sure if this is as at all helpful, but I can relate as well. You have some great macro/up-close photos!May 17, 2022 at 10:40 am #70489Jenny GanssleParticipantMay 17, 2022 at 11:13 am #70495Jenny GanssleParticipantMay 17, 2022 at 11:16 am #70501Jenny GanssleParticipantMay 17, 2022 at 2:14 pm #70503Blessings CapturedParticipantI had fun last night photographing spider “webs”. (It’s really glue gun threads.) Here’s one I got of a Shasta daisy refracted in the drops. It was also the first time I realized I could invert my tripod’s center column to take pictures on the table. Attached is my set up.
I tried again cleaning the lens and sensor, but there was still dust. When I looking into the lens I can see dust trapped inside. That dust doesn’t show up when used normally.
-HannahMay 17, 2022 at 2:38 pm #70506Hannah F.Participant@BlessingsCaptured, what a neat setup. You have a great macro lens. Which one do you have? I only have a 35mm lens.Your macro photo is amazing and very creative. I have enjoyed seeing your previous work in the Lenspiration forums and also on Lightstock.
I want you and every photographer to have the highest chance of winning the contest and hope this helps prepare you for success. The special instructions in the assignment details state to not include your watermark on your photo. Thus, I would suggest to perhaps resubmit your photos, but without the watermark. I hope this helps you! Best wishes to you on the photo assignment.
@brenalig, I love the first ocean beach photo! Also, the throwing of the flower petals was a really neat composition and very creative. Great idea! Best wishes to you on the photo assignment.God bless,
Hannah F. -
