I’m looking for a way to export my raw image as jpegs AND keep the folder structure the same. My sister would like a copy of the pictures of our family’s memories from the past year. She would much prefer the edited, space-saving and “ready to go” qualities of jpeg. 🙂
My pictures are in a folder structure of Year; Month; Date with description. It would be nice to be able to keep them organized that way for her.
I have Lightroom and know how to batch export into premade folders and/or how to manually type the name of a subfolder. It would be easy to export one month at a time, but then all the subfolders in that month would disappear.I also use the program SyncBack for my general backing up. I didn’t know if there was potential in using it for this purpose.
The only thing I could find online was a LR plug-in that’s no longer available.
Does anyone have a method or idea that I could try?
Thanks!

The link is still alive here: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/folder-publisher It was last updated in June 2022; here’s a direct link to download it.
Instructions for how to install it are here: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/plugin-installation
January 6, 2023 at 6:29 pm #74149Blessings CapturedParticipantFor some reason all the links for “Jeffrey’s Friendl’s Blog” are giving me a 404 Not Found error. On the main blog page I was able to see a saved version using “Wayback Machine”. When I tried to use the download link it just took me back to the blog page. These were the same problems I was having when I was first researching the plug-in. Is it just my computer/browser or are you seeing the errors too?
January 6, 2023 at 7:45 pm #74150Ezra MorleyModeratorI bet it’s because your browser is trying to force the
https
version (instead ofhttp
) of the site (which does go to a 404 page). Which browser are you using?January 7, 2023 at 8:56 am #74152Blessings CapturedParticipantI use Brave for my browser.

OK, try going to http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/folder-publisher and then click on the little Brave icon to the right of the URL at the top of the screen, select “Advanced Controls” and turn off the option to “Upgrade connection to HTTPS” and see if it will allow the page to load then. (See screenshot). After doing so, you might have to close that tab and open the link again to test it. Let me know if it still doesn’t work, and we can try something else. 🙂

And @blessings-captured, that is a really good question! I’ve never needed to do what you’re attempting to do, and thinking about it, I’m not thinking of any better way to do it than what you are already attempting. So, hope you have success with that, and if not, we can go back to the brainstorming stage!

January 7, 2023 at 1:59 pm #74160Blessings CapturedParticipantTurning off “Upgrade connection to HTTPS” didn’t seem to work. But I was able to download the plug-in by going to a different computer that has Chrome for it’s browser, then I transferred it to my computer.
I’m able to see the set-up tutorial and should be able to follow that.
Thank you for your help! I don’t understand about http/https but I’m glad you showed me a way to work around it.
February 2, 2023 at 12:45 pm #74674Blessings CapturedParticipantI was able to successfully convert my raw images into jepgs and at the same time keep them in their subfolders.
On my computer it was a little slow. When transferring from my internal memory to an external drive it took about 10 min to do 200. (When I went from external drive to a different external drive it took about twice as long.) I wouldn’t recommend trying to do more then a few hundred at a time. It seemed to slowly get them all started then quickly finish them off.
I’m pleased with how it worked, it did the job I needed.Thank you @buddingphotographer for your help!

February 4, 2023 at 8:47 am #74726Blessings CapturedParticipantYes, Brieanna it was a blessings! Typing all those subfolders would have taken a LONG time. (I probably wouldn’t have done it).
