Aww that rose is pretty, and the dew enhances the photo so much!
In this picture there’s just a tad bit cut off on the outside petal, I think I would try to make sure that either the entire rose is in the picture, or get closer in if possible and artisically get only part of it. It just has to look purposeful either way!
The wider the aperture, the more the background is blurred, which looks great with close-ups of flowers. So, I would use the widest aperture as possible. Also, I’d use the lowest ISO possible for optimal photo quality.
I know what you mean with getting stuck in a rut with taking the same types of pictures! Try different perspectives, looking up at the flower from below, from different sides, at different focal lengths, etc. Try various times of day…. for example, I think this flower would be simply gorgeous during golden hour, especially if you were able to capture light beams in the picture.
Hope that’s helpful! 🙂

The first thing that comes to mind is the tonal values. If the photo was grayscale, there would be very little contrast between the rose and the background. While there is contrast in color, it would certainly look better if there was contrast in tonal value as well.
Experiment with different lighting situations (natural, self-created).
What about trying this effect, raining sunlight? https://www.lenspiration.com/forums/topic/refreshing-springtime-theme-ends-may-19/page/2/#post-30867
Try odd perspectives too: from top, below, centered straight on….take the lens off the camera, flip it around, hold it there, and move back and forth to focus for getting SUPER close ups!
