ParticipantVery nice, Eliana! That’s a pretty fountain, and I like the different colors you can see in the water.
-As far as composition, I think it would be improved if you included more at the bottom. I feel like I’m missing out on something as it is now, I think there may be another layer of water down there (??), or maybe there’s a beautiful base to the fountain, perhaps there are flowers planted around it…. I don’t know, but I feel like I’m possibly missing out on some added beauty down there.
-You might be able to slow your shutter speed a bit more, like to 1/8 or 1/6 of a second (unless you’re hand holding 😊) to achieve even more of a silky effect.
But again, very nice! It’s lovely!!

ParticipantThe silky water effect is so fun! I was very excited the first time I tried it out. 🙂 Lovely photo & great subject, @elianafranzenburg!
Here are a few thoughts!
Your image is leaning to the left a tad, so I thought you might want to straighten that up. Also, since the fountain is cut off on the right hand side a bit, I thought it’d would look more balanced if you cut off a similar amount on the other side, too.I think it’s good how the background is black as the waterfall stands off of it. It would’ve been nice to have some background blur. You have quite a narrow aperture, so that’s probably the reason for no blur in the background. But I realise that you probably took this in the middle of the day sometime and since you had so much light coming in from the slow shutter speed, you had to make it darker by the using a really narrow aperture. I know the feeling! Lol. Perhaps this is where a polarising filter would come in handy…
Also, I think you could’ve used a slower shutter speed to get the water even smoother. I’ve attached my edit!
Lovely photo, though! Great job!

KeymasterWoho! Good for you! Great subject for this effect. Perhaps you could go back to it when it’s in full shade or on a cloudy day? You might like the way it turns out better. This one, though, I think would look amazing edited b&w!

Participant@bennett-family Thanks! The base of the fountain was very boring and kinda ugly so that’s why I didn’t include more of the base.
I will definitely try a slower shutter speed next time, for this photo I was balancing the camera on a ledge so I didn’t want to do any slower at that point.
@creative-click-photography I like your edit, I didn’t notice the photo was leaning so thanks. I have a polarising filter I had just forgotten it at home that day so I had to compensate with the aperture.
@jamesstaddon The fountain was in complete shade when I took it but it was a really bright day and the fountain itself was lit as well. I attached the photo in black and white, Thanks for the idea! I really like it!Thank you all again!

Ya know, that kinda entered my head as a possibility after I commented on the photo 😊
I have to say, your first try at the silky water effect is way better than my first attempt was!! Lol.
I really do like your picture!
