ParticipantHello everyone! I recently updated my website, and I was wondering if anyone sees anything that I should change, or make better?
Also, how do I get more people to visit my website? As it stands right now, I only get about 8 visitors per month. rmadaris3.wixsite.com/rbmphotography- This topic was modified 55 years, 2 months ago by .

ModeratorSomething I would encourage you to do is take all of your photos and place them on the homepage instead of on separate pages. You can put them in separate labeled galleries if you like mix them into one gallery. Simplifying your navigation menu by removing those three pages (and renaming the homepage “Photos”) will help a lot.
Also, your typography is larger than it needs to be. Try a font size of 16 for your body and a heading size of 32, with your site title (Ryan Madaris Photography) at either 24 or 48. If you wanted to try something new, I would recommend Raleway at a size of 44 for your headers and site title and Open Sans at a size of 15 for your body and navigation. Both of those fonts are available to use inside Wix.
Make sure you use proper punctuation and spelling at all times on your website. Even a simple mistake will make people lose a great deal of trust in you and your product. Also, on your contact page, do not put your personal email in plain sight. Bots will grab that and send you a ton of marketing and nasty stuff if you aren’t careful! If you have a form, you do not need to show your email.
Something you need to work on if you want people to visit your site is having more keywords. At the moment, you have very little text on your site, so Google doesn’t know when it should recommend you. By talking about photography, the area in which you live, and your photos more, your SEO ranking should increase.
I have some experience with the wix builder, so if you have any questions, I’d be happy to help!

Participant+1 to @bensharpeningcharacter on saying that you need more text. Your home page definitely needs more content – text and photos.

Participant@bensharpeningcharacter, thank you! I think that’s very good insight. I’ll work on updating the website over time.

ParticipantOk, I’ve successfully updated my site. Is there anything specific that you think I should change, remove, etc? (don’t worry, I won’t be offended) 😀

ParticipantI would suggest changing the color of the font on your picture titles. They don’t stand out from the background enough to be easily read.

ModeratorAgain, I really would recommend moving over to the professionally designed themes that Wix has available, but if you would like to stick with your site, here are a few more things you can do to improve the site’s design.
Make sure text sizes and fonts are universal. Specifically, I noticed you hadn’t updated the About Me page. Your copyright/footer should be the same size as your body text and I would still say that your body copy is a bit too large….
You might want to remove the border styling around the box you have the nav and site title in, as well as from the contact form. Things always look much better when they are simple elements. Additionally, I would recommend you move toward having a white background versus the blue on the pages that have that. It will look much cleaner for it and the “negative space” will help the content breath and the focus to be on your photos rather than the rest of the site.
You could remove the drop shadow and 3D effect on the site title and change the font to one that compliments the rest of the fonts. If you were using the Raleway and Open Sans combo I recommended earlier, for example, you could have the site title Raleway while the navigation would be Open Sans. The key here is for the site title’s font to either complement the rest of the fonts or for it to be one of the fonts you use elsewhere so there is something tying it all together.
The homepage looks much better with some content on there! I would suggest, however, you don’t just link to the different galleries, but rather move the galleries over to the homepage. You don’t have a ton of photos in each gallery, so it wouldn’t be too much to look at and removing the three photo pages from the navigation as it is now will really help simplify things. Remember, the more choices we have, the less likely we will buy anything.
