It’s amazing to me to see so much green in everyone else’s submissions!!!
Here is my submission.
“March – Still Winter”
by Evelyn with some help from William“Still winter” we call it up here in Quebec;
Yes, March is still winter with plenty of snow.
I put on my boots and my hat and my mitts,
And put on my snowshoes, with camera in tow.I open the door and see snow flying ‘round,
Then outside I go with one phrase in my mind,
“I must find a subject that tells me of March.”
But other than snowflakes, what else can I find?Then flittery-flutter, he catches my eye:
A chickadee lands with a whir and a whiz.
An emblem of March, on a snowy brown limb;
Astride on a larch twig, how cheerful he is!October 13, 2022 at 12:18 pm #72953Frazer FamilyParticipant@warrior-princess, thanks for your feedback. I have desaturated the greens a bit, which gives it more of a “rainy day” feel in my mind. Which do you like better? The before or after?

• How to Submit: Members can follow the A, B, C process outlined here. (Instructions for non-members can be viewed here.) You can submit up to 10 photos.
(emphasis mine)
Yes, narrowing it down to 10 favorites can be real hard! I know the feeling!June 24, 2021 at 10:18 am #63334Frazer FamilyParticipantHey @jamesstaddon,
I’m curious. What is a gray layer, and how do you use one?I like the results, that’s for sure.
June 22, 2021 at 9:39 pm #63299Frazer FamilyParticipantI endlessly tweak my designs, and even then am hardly ever completely satisfied with them.
I agree entirely!
Something I learned from @dfrazer is to save copies progressively, so that you can go back to a previous version that you worked on (say the day before yesterday) and glean ideas from the progress you’ve made. It can be encouraging. WARNING: This can be annoying if you’re a real ‘neat bug,’ because you’ll end up having like 20 versions of your file:
file00.svg
file01.svg
file02.svg…
You get the point 😉Another thing that might be helpful is to completely restart the project from scratch (again, keep the design you’ve worked on, it’s very good).
What that does is to help you to think COMPLETELY outside any mental box that the current project might have gotten you into. Do this two or three times, to stretch your creativity.Have fun,

How could I improve the graphic design?
Find a businessman, or several, that you know well, and ask them to lend you all the business cards in their wallet. Typically, you’ll get a VERY wide selection, and a lot of ideas!
Lesser artists borrow; great artists steal.

Unless you’ve actually done the calculations and found it to be cheaper at home, I suspect that it will be more worthwhile to get a professional to print these for you. You’ll gain three things:
#1, time. Printing and cutting out a hundred business cards (or more as need requires!), with a professional-looking result, doesn’t sound like much, until you try it.
#2, experience printing things commercially. You’ll need to learn about bleeds, etc.
#3. Knowledge on what printers in your area are good and which ones aren’t. You don’t want to wait til you have a client waiting for a printed product before find that out! Many printers will give out free sample packages.Secondly,
Unless you’re planning on giving this exclusively to people who know you personally, (and I assume that’s not the case), you’ll want your name on there somewhere, especially since you’re putting your phone number on there.Hope this helps,

Wedding rings (like any jewellery) are designed to create reflections! If there were none, the ring would look like it were made of plastic.
On the flip side, though, it is distracting that you can distinguish a photographer in the far left ring (if you look closely.) I’ve often seen pictures of rings taken at a very slightly higher angle, and often off-set, sometimes with one sitting halfway on the other, etc… Maybe it’s to avoid that problem.
I tried (rather fast) cloning (using a half-transparent brush) from either side of the photographer, after partially blurring it out (again, half-transparent brush). Then to avoid a ‘out of focus’ feel, I used a sharpening brush the same way. It’s called convolve in Gimp; here’s an explanation of what it does. There must be a very similar tool(s) in Photoshop. So now you can see a sharp-looking texture (though not very sharp at that resolution), but no photographer.
I don’t like my results, but I’m working rather fast and on a shrunk version. Still, I believe the method has potential.
Hoping this helps,
