March in Southern Africa
March in Southern Africa marks the beginning of autumn. Being in the eastern part means it is raining season. With temperatures still being warm and humidity high, thunderstorms are often formed, leading to heavy downpours. (IMG_1Thunderstorm)
As the rain pours down, small streams are formed, flowing to the lowest parts creating rather huge puddles of water all across the landscape. Even though these whether conditions can be tricky for some, others thrive on it! (IMG_2Flowing Water)
The Brunsvigia that is also known as a Candelabra flower are native to Southeastern and South Africa, which only blooms in March after the rain. (IMG_3 Brunsvigia)
It is not just flowers that come out after the rain, but also predators. This little guy is a black-backed jackal. He was hiding for most of the day, but now that it is cooler after the rain he is in search for a snack. Being an omnivore he will eat almost anything that is available including plants and insects. With water being so abundant there is no need for the animals to travel, leaving the bigger waterholes that supplies water during the dry winter months without an animal in sight. (IMG_5Waterhole) (Elephant Bull)
March in not just about the whether. For some it is a time for breeding and raising their young.
Egyptian geese are monogamous meaning that they mate for life. Both the male and the female help to care for the offspring until they can look after themselves. These two were blessed with 6 little ones that are too cute for words! (IMG_6Geese)
While geese like to raise their offspring around water, dung beetles on the other hand like to raise theirs around dung, in which they then lay their eggs! They especially like to do this when the whether is warm and wet. (IMG_7Dung Beetle)
March is also elephant mating season, often resulting in them fighting with each other. These two were just trying to figure out who is the strongest.(IMG_8Elephants)
March in beautiful with the grass being green and lush, flowers blooming, rain and thunder, and all the animals enjoying the last bit of summer. Here is a zebra foal playing with one of her family members.(IMG_9Zebras)

Hi everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the weekend! I had to squeeze the photoshoot in between my horse riding lesson and lunch yesterday, so the lighting is VERY bad!
@esther Everything is going well over here in South Africa. We are in the peek of the citrus season and very busy!🍊🍋 Everyone is calm and working, and there are no locusts (thankfully)!🙄😁
