This is a funnel cloud that my brother spotted over our house about a month ago. Luckily it didn’t progress to the size of a tornado! Any comments or ideas on how I could help this photo?

I like this shot a lot! I think it would be nice if you could have included more of the tree/bush, to give a little more texture and context to the photo, besides just the clouds. I would probably sharpen or use some clarity on the funnel cloud to really make it pop and add context to what it actually is. Other then that great photo! 😀

Cool cloud formation! I’ve never seen anything quite like it over here – we don’t really get tornadoes, thankfully. 🙂 I agree with, @dara__cochran, that the trees are cool as they add context, but it would’ve been good to include more. Since you didn’t include more though, (don’t you wish you could replay photo situations with the after-thoughts!) maybe you could crop them out. I also think it’d be good to pull up the contrast slider or use black and whites to add more contrast.
It might be really unrealistic, but I’ve attached my edit.

Caitlin, thanks! Here in the States tornadoes are pretty common. Seven years ago we had one that virtually devastated our town.

@rmadaris, Wow! That would’ve been scary!

@creative-click-photography, we really didn’t know about the tornado until the next day, but when we realized that it had come within less than a mile of our house, we were amazed! If you know what exactly you’re looking for, it’s still possible to very faintly see the tornado’s path along some parts of the ridge. Ringgold Tornado
