ParticipantHi!
I been trying to get the find ways to advertise my business, my website is not doing the job very well and I can’t pay for anything really unless it’s very inexpensive.Do any of you use FaceBook? My family doesn’t use social media but I’m willing to learn how. Are there any platforms that you guys use to get the word out that you’re in business?
Sorry if that doesn’t make very much sense. 🙂

ParticipantI don’t use social media yet, but I know people that use Instagram and Facebook for their photography business. Facebook is a social media that has pictures, links, posts, etc. Instagram is just pictures, which cuts down a little on the rants and things that go on Facebook.

ParticipantSo, It depends on where you live I guess, but for me the best way has been word-of-mouth. Word travels very fast around my small town… 😉 So flyers, business cards, etc. would be a good idea if you aren’t already. Another idea is, I recently found out about Adobe Spark which is free, so maybe you should check that out. Event photography is also a great way to get experience, it pays well, and you can meet people who maybe interested in your work.

ParticipantMy dad uses Facebook to advertise for his chiropractic practice; it seems like it certainly is a valid outlet for advertising.

Keymaster@elianafranzenburg, tell us a little about your business. What is your website? What services do you offer right now? What age group, gender, and location are you wanting to market to?

ParticipantMy website is imagecatcherphotography.weebly.com, right now I’m offering family and individual portraits and also events such as birthday parties and family reunions.
Probably families and like 18 year olds who want senior photos. I haven’t really thought about genders so I don’t know. I want to mainly focus in my home town and nearby towns because I don’t have my license yet and my Mom has to drive me everywhere.I’m currently working on my website so what you see isn’t final.
@jamesstaddon does that help?March 22, 2018 at 9:01 am #30051Ryan Madaris
Participant@elianafranzenburg, I don’t use facebook, and I probably never will 😀 , but it might work! One thing you could do is print out business cards and go to local shops and ask if you can put one on their bulletin board. Or, if you live in a small town, word of mouth is a great way (just ask people you know to tell others about your business.).
I live in a town of 4,000; so it’s easier to do this than if you’re in a larger city.

KeymasterSweet! I hadn’t seen your website before! Yes, local advertising (through your local paper, putting flyers and business cards out and such) and of course repeat customers and word of mouth is going to be your strongest point. Think about what your potential customer is doing and looking at and see if you can’t put what you offer that meets their needs in front of them. With a very easy call to action, like a QR code they can scan or your phone number. A lot we could talk about here. If you’d like to set up a coaching call to talk about it more, let me know! Just shoot an email to [email protected]. I’d love to discuss specifics unique to your situation.
