I'm Kina! 😀 I bought my first camera when I was 11 y.o. and opened up a business not long after that called Roaring lamb Photography. I got some neat opportunities through that. 😀 Recently, though, God led my oldest brother into wedding videography and we have gone into business together as a wedding photography & videography team and operate under Gloria Productions. The other big thing that takes a lot of my time is competing in the National Bible Bee. Even when I'm not competing, I love to memorize epistles and Psalms especially. I have a blog called Above The Heavens about reclaiming specific areas in life for the glory of God. (Psalm 57:5+11)

Kina LambParticipant@tashavk Yes indeed!! I actually just got one called “Shooting & Editing” by Amy & Jordan Demos, and the first module is allll about light, and it was SO good. Presented in a very engaging way, too, not all technical-y and hard to understand. 🙂 You can tell they are very passionate about it and love light. It was very simple, practical, and easy to understand, and it WORKS!! 😀 Having taken two of Amy & Jordan Demos’ courses now, I cannot recommend them enough. They are spectacular.
You can get $200 off (so it’ll be $397) if you buy the course during one of their webinars which they run all day long all the time. 😀 (Their webinars also are VERY helpful and full of great information… and free!) That is what I would recommend! 🙂

Kina LambParticipant@erambeck I cannot recommend Amy & Jordan Demos’ courses enough. They have everything anyone will ever need for wedding photography, photography in general, posing, and business. 😀 amyandjordan.com*
(Tip – their courses are $200 off if you buy it through one of their webinars which run automatically all day every day.) I am taking two of their courses right now, and they really are everything everyone says they are. I would pay almost anything for their courses.
They also have a ton of free stuff they give away on their site, so I would take some time looking around! 😀March 30, 2021 at 9:15 pm #61681
Kina LambParticipant@bennett-family You can also ask them to “just go ahead and melt your shoulders down your back” or “yep, just press those shoulders back” (at least, that’s how I would say it :D) and this helps them to stand up straighter… it’s just a bit more of a tactical way than to say, “um, yeah, could you also stand up straighter?” 🙂 Standing up straight helps EVERYONE look their best. 🙂 And even when someone is leaning forward a bit, (which I really recommend for jawlines) they can still “press their shoulders back” and look straighter and more confident… and, really, more like themselves which is the goal. 🙂 Hope that’s helpful! 😀

Kina LambParticipant@bennett-family Ooh! Posing! I took a course on this. 🙂 The base pose for women is to have their toes pointing 45 degrees away from the camera, have them twist at the torso toward you, and lean forward a bit. This creates a synched waist and a nice jawline (eliminates double chins!) If they are standing, you also have them put their hand on their hip, and then lower it a little bit. That is the most flattering base pose for women. If they are standing, you do the same thing – you have them point their toes 45 degrees off camera, have them turn at the torso toward you, and lean forward a bit. Generally they don’t put their hands on their hips when they are sitting – lol – but they can fold them in their lap. Make sure to create space between their arms and their body so that their arms don’t lay flat against their torso. There is a tendency to do that when you are nervous, but it flattens their arms out to almost twice their size and no one likes them then. (That is one of the reasons you have them put their hands on their hips.)
For genuine smiles, the easiest and best way is to praise the smiles out of them. 😀 I have heard some photographers say that it is okay to “lie” and tell them they look great even if they don’t because then they WILL look great when you tell them that… but I wholeheartedly disagree because lying is never okay… it is *always* dishonoring to God and I just will not do that. However, there are tactical ways to get them to smile well, like, “oh, this looks *good!*” (if it does! – you don’t have to say ‘perfect’ or ‘great’ or ‘amazing’) and then when they smile a little bit bigger, you say, “YES! Aaaah, you’re going to love this photos!!! Yes yes yes, keep doing what you’re doing! Yep, you’re nailing exactly what I told you, this is great!! Awesome job!!!” (If, of course, they are doing a good job, but if you are positive, they can’t help but have genuine smiles. 🙂 And snap away while you’re saying these things, because that is the window where you will get the most genuine smiles. 😀

Kina LambParticipant@rhodabarrick I definitely agree with @Jamesstaddon. 😀 I used to think that you have to wear black / dark things, but that really is not the case. Many photographers I know say “dress like a guest!” Some even try to wear colors that “go” better with certain weddings if they know the color scheme. I also know of several photographers who always wear really light colors because that goes with their own personal shooting style. Dark colors are great, but as far as shooting a wedding, I personally do no think that they’re better or more standard / professional than any other colors. 😀

Kina LambParticipant@jamesstaddon It went wonderful!! I used a 24-70, constantly on 24. We used one of our video lights a couple of times which really helped but it was mostly natural lighting. Yep, we definitely used a tripod. 😀 Couldn’t have done it without it. The HDR was definitely very very helpful in this case as there were a lot of windows and the outside scenery was gorgeous!

Kina LambParticipantOops! I made a mistake! I thought I wasn’t selling the lens hood to the ProMaster 24-200 lens separately, but it turns out I am! The lens hood is $7. 😀
