ModeratorRequest: A photo to backdrop Proverbs 27:17
Photo ideas: Two friends talking, abstract photos of metal
Deadline: Midnight, August 31st———
Good Evening Lenspiration!
First, some news. Because of some really big changes in my schedule, this will be the last VersePic Opportunity for a while. Our absence won’t be permanent, though! We’re planning on doing the VPOs again in early 2019. We’ll miss working with you all and are looking forward to working with you all again in the future.
This time, we need photos that fit Proverbs 27:17.
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
Submitted photos will be used as a background to the verse as part of our VersePics Ministry. Those of you familiar with Sharpening Character might know that this is our brand verse and where our name comes from! Surprisingly, we’ve never created a VersePic of our brand verse, so for our three year anniversary of the podcast, we thought we’d remedy that! This is a special verse and an extra special VP, so I’m looking for some very special photos!
As everything we do at Sharpening Character is meant to encourage others, I’d really like to focus on visualizing the aspect of friendship for this VersePic Opportunity. The only way I can think to picture friendship at the moment is two people talking together. (If you can think of a different way to picture friendship, go for it!) Before someone asks, the two people can be either girls or boys, but it would be nice for the photos to be of boys, if possible. It would be great to see some over-the-shoulder and torso (without faces) shots of a conversation in addition to some straight on shots, as well as any other creative compositions that you can think of.
Just a warning, be very careful with where you put faces and people in your shots. If the faces are too close to the right and left edges of the photos and they’ll be cut off on phones and they can’t be in the exact center of the photo because that’s where the verse will be! I talk about this more fully in the VersePic Opportunity FAQ page: https://www.lenspiration.com/forums/topic/versepic-opportunity-faq/
If you don’t have some people that would be able to help you out with this, you could also try to shoot some photos that visualize the analogy behind this verse–iron sharpening iron. Photos of grindstones, knives (be careful!), tools, and close-up abstract photos of metal might work as well.
**HOW TO SUBMIT PHOTOS:**
1. Upload full-size photos in any format—including RAW formats—directly to this Dropbox Link: https://wvww.dropbox.com/request/H4VWZ1hE0fEkNxnNOokN (Please try to submit photos that are or larger than 2666px wide by 2000px tall.)
2. Reply below, attaching a smaller version of your submission (maximum of 8MB) to allow me to comment on them, let others to see them, and make it possible for James to critique them in the next photo critique webinar: https://www.lenspiration.com/photo-critique-with-lenspiration-sep-11/
At the moment, the forum is heavily compressing and resizing attachments to replies below, so please realize that if you *only* submit your photos by attaching them below and your photos are below 2666px wide by 2000 px tall when I review them, I will not be able to use your photos.
Full details on submission guidelines, exactly what the images will be used for, and other information can be found in the VersePic Opportunity FAQ page: https://www.lenspiration.com/forums/topic/versepic-opportunity-faq/
Thank you for all your support! It means a lot to us.

KeymasterThank you so much for providing these shooting opportunities for us, Ben, over the past year or so! Enjoy your time away, and we’ll look forward to your return!

ParticipantHere at a few I shot to represent the concept of iron sharpening iron.
@bensharpeningcharacter, I was unable to open your dropbox link to submit the raw files- here are small jpgs.August 23, 2018 at 5:12 pm #33100Josiah Waldner

ModeratorThose are some really cool shots Josiah!
Sorry about the Dropbox Link. It seems to shut down the link after a while. Here’s a new link that should work. https://www.dropbox.com/request/H4VWZ1hE0fEkNxnNOokN
If you can, I’d really appreciate it if you could upload the RAW and JPEG files to the Dropbox folder. The forum has stepped up its compression and resizing game recently, which makes the photos attached on the forum unusable.

ParticipantAll right, that works! Thank you. I only sent the DNG files- my internet is rather slow, so it takes a while to upload pictures.

ModeratorSorry about the wait @elianafranzenburg and @theodore!
Lenspiration hasn’t been sending me notification emails for some reason, so I hadn’t realized that you had submitted photos! I think I might have messed with something in my profile, so I’ll check that out. In the meantime, I’ll try to check every day till the deadline so I’m not missing anyone!
I’m looking forward to seeing them when you’re done, Eliana!
Thanks for submitting some photos, Theodore! I always appreciate it when I see some new faces here on the VPOs. Those are some interesting shots. I like that they have some really nice “depth” to them.

ParticipantHey, @bensharpeningcharacter! I accidentally left this to the last minute, so I didn’t have a chance to do the cool things I would’ve liked to try. 🙁 But, I didn’t want to miss out on doing the last one of the year. lol. So, even though they aren’t my best – here’s what I come up with! I’ve submitted my photos via the DropBox link. Hopefully you get them – I don’t have time to submit them here, but will do it in a day or so.

ParticipantBTW, if you think any of the photo ideas could be a bit of a possibility, then I probably have more angles (of the boys walking, the grinding stone sparks etc.) that I can submit. Just let me know.

ParticipantHey @bensharpeningcharacter, I submitted the above pics to the dropbox link but didn’t receive a confirmation email from them. So let me know if they didn’t come through or if it worked all right.

Moderator@bennett-family That’s odd! I can indeed confirm that I received them, though, so you’re fine!
Notifications are thankfully coming through again, so yay! 🙂
