Samuel ChingParticipantHi Joanna!
I agree with Lydia, Lightroom is very powerful, and you probably don’t need PS unless you are planning to do background removal (like making cutouts for a calendar) or complicated photo layering/stacking that Lightroom can’t do (like focus stacking).
I believe the MacBook Air has USB-C ports, so a USB-C SD card reader should work. Card readers are not something you need to spend a lot of money on; I have a Windows computer that doesn’t have a built-in card reader, and I just use an inexpensive USB-C card reader from Walmart.
Hope that helps!

Samuel ChingParticipantWe recently got back from a two and a half month trip on the mainland with the whole family (12 people!), and I just finished going through all the 200+ gigabytes of photos and videos! So I definitely needed this assignment. 🙂
I decided to do a wildlife theme, because that’s what I have the most of in the last year, but I might do something different when I make my actual calendar.
Great photos, everyone!
January-May:
Samuel ChingParticipantWow, those are beautiful photos, Tabitha! I love the Bluebird and the fawns!
Samuel ChingParticipant@lenspirationlydia I got a Canon R6! I’ve been wanting one for a long time, but I always had to rent it when I needed a “good” camera (for portrait shoots, trips, etc.). Now I won’t have to anymore! It was delivered at our house towards the end of the webinar, so I was kinda distracted when Mr. James was announcing the winners. 😊

Samuel ChingParticipantHere are my photos for the assignment (all taken before). I wasn’t able to do the last few, so I’m glad I could this time! The second one is a crop and slightly different edit of the first photo. I wasn’t sure if the last one quite fits the assignment, but northern lights are glowing, and it’s scenery… 🙂
And I just ordered a new (to me) camera that’s supposed to get here tomorrow, so I will probably be making more time to do the assignments. 😊
Samuel ChingParticipantI finally had time the night before the deadline to shoot, and I also got a couple on a hike the day of. The one of the telescope was hard because I was trying to find a good composition with enough light to have my brother pose with it (did you know it’s hard to get someone to stand perfectly still for 5 seconds? 🙂), but also have the scope not pointing at clouds (it was way too cloudy to do any real stargazing). But that wasn’t working, so I settled for using just the telescope. The other two, I was trying to go for the “bug’s perspective” shot.
Y’all’s photos are great!
Samuel ChingParticipantGood! I had the same question as Leanne (about the calendars). Thanks!
Samuel ChingParticipantI got a refurbished HP EliteBook 840 G5 from Best Buy several months ago. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the computer (colors and battery life are not good), but I think Best Buy is a reliable place to get refurbished.

Samuel ChingParticipantHere are my photos for the assignment (January-May). The theme for my calendar is Alaska. I was able to go to there twice in the last year, in December-January and in July. I don’t have any Spring or Fall photos from Alaska, so I’m using some that I got in July.
