Last Sunday was Easter Sunday. And what do you do on Easter Sunday afternoon? We take nice family portraits while we are all dressed up in our Sunday best!
I was looking forward to our Easter photo this year, now that we are a little family. I asked my brother Jonathan (who is a great photographer) if he could take our picture for us. We walked a little ways up the hill at my parents house to take advantage of the pretty pink cherry tree blooms behind us. I gave Jonathan my camera with a 50mm f/1.8 lens on it so the background would be nice and blurry.
Of course, I had to take some pictures of Mordecai that day too! His official two-month portrait, I guess. He’ll smile for the camera one of these days! 🙂
As we were going back inside, my brother Michael stepped out on the porch with our new little niece. I asked if he wanted a family photo too, so proceeded to do a quick one for them before dinner.
Inside, we had a very special meal waiting for us. Mom, Julianna and my sister-in-law, Elizabeth, went all out to give us an Easter dinner with festive dishes. Mom prepared a roast and acini de pepe, a creamy sweet salad with pineapple and whipped cream. Julianna made her grandmother’s recipe of Danish puff pastry. Elizabeth prepared berry ribbon pie. And we also had Julianna’s “Resurrection Rolls.” They area a regular roll baked with a marshmallow inside that comes billowing out while in the oven, leaving an empty tomb behind! Azalia thought them to be quite fascinating!
While I had my camera out, I went ahead and took some photos of the food. It was a bit of a throwback to when I first got my DSLR. Back then I took pictures of literally everything. I haven’t taken pictures of food at dinner time for a very long time!
It’s nice to take pictures for no particular reason every once in a while. I enjoyed the relaxing afternoon with family, eating good food and having good conversations. It was a great day for once again pondering the miracle of the empty tomb and our risen, living Savior, Jesus Christ and all that He has done for us.
“He is not here, but is risen; remember how He spake unto you while He was yet in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ And they remembered His words” (Luke 24:6-8).
