Do you make a mental note every time you set your camera down? During the Indianapolis Conference, I learned that even when I didn’t think it was necessary, remembering exactly where I put my camera is very important.
I never not know where my camera is. That’s why I thought it was strange that it wasn’t in it’s usual place in the hotel room. When I couldn’t find it in the car, I went to the Convention Center to check Lost and Found and scan places I had sat the day before. When I couldn’t find it there, I went back to the Training Center Conference Room where I often kept it. It wasn’t there either! The last place I figured it could be was in the hotel room somewhere. But I was just there that morning and hadn’t seen it; why would it be there?
Well, I made my way back up to the 11th floor where, to my great relief, I found my camera bag sitting on the floor next to the door. You see, I had set it there late one night and, knowing it was in a safe place, hadn’t made a mental note of it. Even when it didn’t seem necessary, it would have been very helpful to either remember where I had set it down or put it back where it was supposed to go.
It’s difficult while traveling, but I’m learning just how important it is to keep myself organized by always having a place for everything, and putting everything in it’s place.
