Top 10 Student Photos From the Latest Photo Assignment!

While Julianna and I were settling into our home in West Virginia, the Lenspiration photographers were busy at work photographing the September photo assignment!

The assignment? Photographer at a computer. The publisher? Lenspiration! We needed good photographer photos for future training material. Why not have the photographers photograph some photographers for me?

And I was blown away by the amount of photos the photographers submitted. It was a “people assignment”. Next-level stuff. I wasn’t expecting 15 photographers to take on the challenge! Including at least one photographer who said this was their first assignment. Wow. And the quality of photos too! I was amazed.

This made choosing the winner tough. Like, I now sympathize with other publishers we shoot assignments for. Smile But the restriction was I could only choose one. One!

So, after deliberating a long while, I narrowed the 119 down to 24 photos.

And then down to 10.

Final three photos by Naomi, the last of which was the winner!

Aren’t they incredible?! The reason I ended up choosing Naomi’s photo isn’t because the others’ weren’t good, but because this one photo fulfilled the most particulars that were weaved into the assignment details:

  • Photographer studying/working
  • Business feel
  • Bright and happy
  • Subject in teens or 20s
  • Camera or equipment close by
  • Variety in perspective
  • Edited tastefully

You kept the bigger picture in mind, Naomi! Good job.

For the October assignment, we’re not shooting for Lenspiration again. Smile The publisher this time will be Shepherds Global Classroom. Ever heard of them? Neither had I, till recently! Looks like a great ministry with a great goal. I’m not going to tell you what it is that we’re supposed to photograph, but they are asking the Lenspiration photographers to photograph for them because they want something specific that’s not common on stock websites. They also don’t want photos with a lot of strings attached, since they want to have their biblical training material translated into many different languages. The assignment will be of something very specific, but thankfully, it will be something that anyone can photograph anywhere in the world. Stay tuned for the next assignment, launching next Friday, October 7, here on the Lenspiration blog!!

Yes! They are a lot of fun! My portfolio has expanded so much since starting to shoot the assignments. I take photos I never would have had taken otherwise. 🙂
