While Julianna and I were settling into our home in West Virginia, the Lenspiration photographers were busy at work photographing the September photo assignment!
The assignment? Photographer at a computer. The publisher? Lenspiration! We needed good photographer photos for future training material. Why not have the photographers photograph some photographers for me?
And I was blown away by the amount of photos the photographers submitted. It was a “people assignment”. Next-level stuff. I wasn’t expecting 15 photographers to take on the challenge! Including at least one photographer who said this was their first assignment. Wow. And the quality of photos too! I was amazed.
This made choosing the winner tough. Like, I now sympathize with other publishers we shoot assignments for. But the restriction was I could only choose one. One!
So, after deliberating a long while, I narrowed the 119 down to 24 photos.
And then down to 10.

Final three photos by Naomi, the last of which was the winner!
Aren’t they incredible?! The reason I ended up choosing Naomi’s photo isn’t because the others’ weren’t good, but because this one photo fulfilled the most particulars that were weaved into the assignment details:
- Photographer studying/working
- Business feel
- Bright and happy
- Subject in teens or 20s
- Camera or equipment close by
- Variety in perspective
- Edited tastefully
You kept the bigger picture in mind, Naomi! Good job.
For the October assignment, we’re not shooting for Lenspiration again.
Oooo, how exciting! I can’t wait to participate for the first time in a Lenspiration assignment project!
Yes! They are a lot of fun! My portfolio has expanded so much since starting to shoot the assignments. I take photos I never would have had taken otherwise. 🙂
