The Grand CAPTURE Announcement!
Well, here’s the grand CAPTURE photography workshop announcement to usher in the New Year! There’s still a ton of planning yet to do, but hopefully this list of 2014 CAPTURE locations will whet your appetite and give you the basic info you need to start planning!...
Year’s End Brings a Final First
I’m getting back into the swing of things after spending the Christmas week with some great friends in North Carolina! Of the many activities, I would say the things I enjoyed most were taking pictures with David, learning from Mr. Stelzl’s business experience, and...
Midnight Clear
. It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth, To touch their harps of gold: "Peace on the earth, goodwill to men From heavens all gracious King!" The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels...
Ever heard of SMF?
It’s a first! Scripture Memory Fellowship has a 2014 calendar for sale. I wholeheartedly recommend you take a few minutes to read the blog and browse the resources that Scripture Memory Fellowship has to offer! I had the opportunity to personally meet Executive...
Stories of Winter
It snowed for the third time this season the other day! Here in West Virginia, it’s uncommon to be getting this much snow at this time of year, but it certainly is a pleasant surprise. The snow made me think of past winter pictures, so I thought I’d post a few...
The Technique of Forced Perspective
Went through some pictures today from my trip out to the West Coast in September! I posted some things earlier about southern California, but that was really just the first leg of my journey. My real purpose for traveling from Los Angeles to Sacramento by car...
Reflections and Free Cards
I’m sitting by a warm, cozy fire here in West Virginia as I contemplate with gratefulness all that God has done this year! Teaching photography through the CAPTURE workshops is something I had only dreamed of doing in years past. I can’t believe they are actually a...
An Interesting Fact About the Calendar
I've been shipping out calendars almost daily now, and it's exciting to think about where they are all going. A church in Connecticut, a fundraising project in California, a prison ministry in Arkansas, a family owned store in Virginia, friends and family in...
The Key to Orderliness
I had a lot to unpack today! Last Wednesday, my brother Donald and I drove down to Knoxville, Tennessee, to be a part of the National Bible Bee. I operated a booth for the CAPTURE workshops and 2014 Lenspiraiton Calendars while Donald worked as a runner and...
Early Bird Sale on the Lenspiration Calendars

From the Perspective of the Other Photographers
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how my pictures turn out during a CAPTURE workshop. What really matters is how the photos from the photographers attending the workshop turn out. So, forget my perspective! Here are a few shots from some of the photographers who...
Where We Went in Kansas
I can’t believe it’s been over three weeks since we finished up CAPTURE Kansas! But I didn’t want it to slip by without giving a few more details about how it went. Taking “wow” pictures requires a whole lot more than just visiting “wow” locations. You have to be...
Life on the Farm
I’ve been having a very enjoyable weekend with my family on the Our Father’s Farm in southern Virginia. The Fuhrmann family has been so hospitable and I have so enjoyed helping out with farm chores, walking the property, teaching photography, and herding cattle!...
A New Field of Design
I’m taking a stab at designing in a field in which I’ve never designed before: mobile applications. Just have to keep moving forward with the times! The picture on the left is what the programmer sent me, showing the basic design elements needed for the login...
A New Approach to Fashion Photography
I couldn’t help but ask question after question when I met photographer Germaine Bellamy last week. This solid Christian man isn’t your typical portrait photographer: his family business, Patria Portrait, specializes in fashion and glamour portrait photography....
What I Learned in Prison
It’s hard to believe that an entire week has passed and the prison Journey to the Heart is over! It was an experience I will never forget. Seeing men convicted of crime facing heart issues, restructuring their belief system around Biblical principles, and even...
The Color of Kansas
Glow of Sunrise God answered our prayers for beautiful sunrises and sunsets every day of the CAPTURE Kansas workshop last week! In fact, the last sunrise of the workshop was far beyond what I expected. I scouted Lake Shawnee beforehand and wasn’t overly impressed....
A Photographer Who Fears the Lord
A photographer who fears the world changes with the whims of the trends. A photographer who fears the Lord, influences the trends by his principle. “And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways,...
Capturing Kansas
We are having a great time here at the CAPTURE Kansas workshop! We shot the sunrise at an abandoned home built in 1878 and spent some time at an old, abandoned barn close by learning all about metering modes and exposure compensation. During the afternoon, we...

Another behind the scenes shot....thanks to @real_lukas_n Though I usually use a tripod for landscape photography, there was no time in this situation where it was literally raining. When I saw the distant mountains after pulling in for only a short time at this open-to-the-public farm, I knew there was a shot somewhere. This vast field of flooded strawberry plants was the foreground I was looking for, offering perfect leading lines to the triangular peak framed by the sweeping mist.

New blog post! The last bit of light after sunset doesn`t take long to disappear. Sparkling stars were peering through the pinyon pine boughs above us. We were in the deep shadows of dusk as we picked our way down the rock strewn trail back to the parking lot. Read more at link in bio.

Behind the shot photo.... When it`s rainy, and you`re not on lights`s time table, there`s time to chat with friends while you`re out in the field! 🤩 Thanks @real_lukas_n for the second photo! --

Happy Memorial Day! Let us honor their sacrifice by using our freedoms not to do as we please, but to live as we ought. #freedom #integrity #selfcontrol #memorialday #Godblessamerica
New blog post! Rain poured down in torrential waves as we made our way through the Smoky Mountains. We had gotten up insanely early—long before dawn—to make the most of our time photographing at the high-elevation overlooks before the storm. But now the rain was coming down so hard that even the most dedicated among us didn’t feel like stepping out of the car for a photo. Until we rounded a bend and saw... Read more at link in bio.

Before/after....look at the difference! A little editing is just what it needed to make it pop (IMO). What do you think?
"For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills." Deuteronomy 8:7-9 Every time I photograph a waterfall I should thank the Lord for letting me live in such a blessed land.
