About the 2012 Calendar: July
Life in the Desert How long did it take for you to discover the little chipmunk in this picture? At first glance, it isn’t noticeable. And that’s a good thing. I love pictures that are are deeper than one look and include little things that pop out each time it is...
About the 2012 Calendar: June
Shadows of Approaching Evening I find it ironic that flat, farmland states such as Indiana and Illinois boast parks that feature long, deep canyons carved in the landscape. Whether at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana, Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio, or Starved...
About the 2012 Calendar: May
Looking Toward Heaven Just about every flower is beautiful to look at, and for this reason are extremely common subjects for photographs. Hence, to get a unique picture of a flower is not common, and not easy. That is what I was thinking when I pulled out the...
About the 2012 Calendar: April
A Restful Afternoon The afternoon was gloriously peaceful as I strolled along with my family down a country lane after a short hike to a quaint, yet picturesque little waterfall in the valley. We were visiting friends in Canada near Peterborough, Ontario. Down by...
About the 2012 Calendar: March
Butterfly Brilliance I remember clearly the peaceful, bright Sunday afternoon in Gageum-ri, South Korea where this picture was taken. It was not necessarily the taking of the picture that I remember so clearly as it was the location at which I took it. You see,...
About the 2012 Calendar: February
Cold of Snow When West Virginia gets snow, it usually doesn’t stick around unless it’s January or February, the coldest part of the year in the Appalachians. And when it comes, it transforms the dull, brown landscape into an incredibly beautiful winter wonderland....
About the 2012 Calendar: January
Bridge Over the Ice January 21, 2011 was a bitter cold evening. As I recall, the temperature hovered around 10 degrees. It was fairly clear, the moon was full and a nice blanket of snow covered the ground, so I ventured directly from my office into the cold with...
Pic of the Month: November ‘11
Enjoying the Falls I’ve been so busy selling calendars and putting up Christmas lights over the last week that I didn’t have any time to post the Pic of the Month for November! It was a light month for photography anyway, catching up on business and things after my...

2011 Bible Bee Highlights
Between fulfilling volunteer responsibilities and attending various events at the National Bible Bee in Nashville, Tennessee, I was able to snap a few shots of the friendly, spirited, and emotionally thrilling mood of the occasion! In both shooting and editing, I...
Learning Truth
“By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.” –Proverbs 16:5 ‘Tis an exciting week! After memorizing hundreds of Scripture verses over the summer, the top 300 highest-scoring National Bible Bee contestants from across...
A Handy Tool: the ND Filter
This quaint little bridge, situated just off Rt. 7 in the lightly populated county of Litchfield, Connecticut, is probably the smallest covered bridge I have ever seen. Just tall enough to walk through, the miniature, almost romantic little structure is the gateway...
Where I was Last Week
After returning from my excursion to the West Coast on the 22nd, I had the opportunity of being on a Journey to the Heart team in the Northwoods of Michigan for a week. By that time of year, the autumn colors had almost fully faded that far north, but there were a...
Pic of the Month: October ’11
Ocean Mist I don’t normally go stepping into ankle deep water while wearing socks and hiking boots, but an unfortunate wave of circumstances called for it’s necessity a few weeks ago while photographing the last light on the shores of Battle Beach State Park, OR....
Tufa Towers of Mono Lake
Have you ever heard of tufa? I didn’t know much about them until today. Typically, when underwater springs rich in calcium mix with lakewater rich in carbonates, a chemical reaction occurs resulting in calcium carbonate, or limestone as we know it. Though tufa is...
Mammoth Lakes
It feels as though I have reached yet another panicle of this trip. The town of Mammoth Lakes, CA, just across the Sierra Mountains from Yosemite, is the gatewate to an incredible system of lakes and mountain ranges connecting several National Forests and Parks...
Malibu Lagoon
Sunday evening, my hosts for my stay in Los Angeles took me to a small beach in Malibu, California to watch the sun go down. It was a very relaxing, reflective time and I only took a few pictures. There wasn’t much to take pictures of anyway, but the bright green...

Another behind the scenes shot....thanks to @real_lukas_n Though I usually use a tripod for landscape photography, there was no time in this situation where it was literally raining. When I saw the distant mountains after pulling in for only a short time at this open-to-the-public farm, I knew there was a shot somewhere. This vast field of flooded strawberry plants was the foreground I was looking for, offering perfect leading lines to the triangular peak framed by the sweeping mist.

New blog post! The last bit of light after sunset doesn`t take long to disappear. Sparkling stars were peering through the pinyon pine boughs above us. We were in the deep shadows of dusk as we picked our way down the rock strewn trail back to the parking lot. Read more at link in bio.

Behind the shot photo.... When it`s rainy, and you`re not on lights`s time table, there`s time to chat with friends while you`re out in the field! 🤩 Thanks @real_lukas_n for the second photo! --

Happy Memorial Day! Let us honor their sacrifice by using our freedoms not to do as we please, but to live as we ought. #freedom #integrity #selfcontrol #memorialday #Godblessamerica
New blog post! Rain poured down in torrential waves as we made our way through the Smoky Mountains. We had gotten up insanely early—long before dawn—to make the most of our time photographing at the high-elevation overlooks before the storm. But now the rain was coming down so hard that even the most dedicated among us didn’t feel like stepping out of the car for a photo. Until we rounded a bend and saw... Read more at link in bio.

Before/after....look at the difference! A little editing is just what it needed to make it pop (IMO). What do you think?
"For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills." Deuteronomy 8:7-9 Every time I photograph a waterfall I should thank the Lord for letting me live in such a blessed land.

New blog post! The photographer who makes decisions based on comfort won’t get out in the field, even in a place like the Smokies—and therefore won’t come home with any photos. Read more at link in bio.
